Hi and welcome back to my blog. Our action project is focused on raising awareness about Ruckle Provincial Park by creating and managing an Instagram page dedicated to sharing its historical significance, natural beauty, and importance as a BC provincial park. By using social media as a digital platform, we aim to educate, engage, and inspire the public, especially younger audiences, to appreciate and support local parks. This includes planning and posting meaningful content, promoting the page to grow its reach, and working closely with local experts like Brenda to ensure our information is accurate and respectful.

1. Where We’re At So Far
So far, one of the biggest steps we’ve taken is meeting with Brenda, our community expert who has years of experience in environmental education. She helped us lay out a clear plan and even gave us access to the Instagram page that we’ll be running for Ruckle Park. This was a key moment because now we’re not just talking about taking action — we’re actually doing it.
Brenda also guided us on ways we could start building a following for the page before we begin posting park content. She suggested that we first focus on advertising the Instagram account itself, to give it an early boost and help it reach a wider audience. This strategy gives us a strong foundation to start sharing meaningful content when the time is right.
2. Successes We’ve Seen
One clear success so far is that we’ve already started to gain followers on the Instagram page — not a huge number yet, but it’s steady and shows that people are interested. Every new follower is a small win because it means more people will see our future posts and learn about the park’s history, nature, and importance.
Another success is that our team has been communicating well and working together, especially when planning next steps. With the right advice from Brenda, we’ve been able to organize ourselves and get past the early planning stage — which is often the hardest part.
3. Challenges We’ve Faced
Like any project, there have been challenges too. One of the biggest ones is figuring out how to grow the page without losing sight of our main purpose: spreading awareness about Ruckle Park. It’s easy to fall into the trap of creating random or trending posts just to get attention, but we’re trying to stay focused on content that reflects the park’s real story.

To solve this, we’ve been experimenting with ideas on how to market and promote the page in a way that stays true to our message. We’re looking at things like using hashtags tied to nature, history, and BC parks, and connecting with other local pages to share or repost our content. This way, we can expand our reach while still staying on-topic.
4. What’s Next and Why
Next, we’re planning to create our first Instagram post or story. This is a big step because it sets the tone for the kind of content we’ll be posting in the future. We want to make sure it’s informative, visually appealing, and true to Ruckle Park’s identity.
We’re also working on building a posting schedule — figuring out whether daily, weekly, or bi-weekly posts make the most sense. On top of that, our team will be meeting weekly to gather information, write captions, and brainstorm fun and engaging ways to promote the park. This regular collaboration will help us stay organized and keep the content fresh and meaningful.
