About me: Andrea

Hi! My name is Andrea Vrnoga. I am 14 years old and a grade 9 student at École Dr. Charles Best Secondary School in Coquitlam, BC, Canada. My favourite subject is probably English. I like English because it allows me to be creative and express myself through writing and reading. This is my first year doing Social Responsibility, and I’m looking forward to learning new things!

One thing that might surprise others about me is how much I enjoy reading, since many people my age don’t usually like it. I also love music because it inspires me and helps me relax, and my biggest passion is volleyball, where I enjoy the teamwork, energy, and constant challenge to improve. Another important part of who I am is my culture. I am Serbian and Croatian, and I can speak English, French, and Serbian. Being able to speak different languages is something I am proud of because it connects me to my culture and also allows me to communicate with different people. I would also say that one of my strongest attributes is being supportive and encouraging, since I always try to help and motivate others, whether it’s in school, with friends, or on the volleyball court.

One of my passions is travelling because it allows me to experience new places, cultures, and perspectives. I enjoy seeing different landscapes, trying new foods, and meeting people whose lives are different from mine. Travelling also teaches me to be open-minded and flexible, since every trip comes with new experiences and sometimes unexpected challenges. For me, travelling is exciting because it combines learning with adventure, and it always leaves me with memories and lessons that stay with me even after the trip is over.

To me, the word “community” means being part of a group where people respect, support, and encourage each other. If I could solve one global problem, I would focus on reducing poverty, because I believe everyone deserves access to basic needs like food, clean water, and education. To relax, I enjoy running, playing volleyball, reading, watching shows, and listening to music, since these activities help me clear my mind and feel less stressed. For me, the perfect best friend is someone who is kind, trustworthy, and supportive. A best friend is someone I can laugh with, share my thoughts with, and count on no matter what happens.

The category of the Butterfly Effect that I am most interested in right now is the Inquiry Project. I like this category because it gives me the chance to explore a question that really matters to me and to do research in different stages to find answers. It feels more personal than the other categories because I get to choose my own topic, create a plan, and connect what I learn to myself and my community.

Thank you for reading my all about me!
