My name is Joelle Lee. I am a 15-year-old sophomore at Charles Best Secondary School. I’ve had a wonderful experience last year at this school, and I’m looking forward to another year here. I live in British Columbia, Canada. As always, my favourite subject has always been English, but once again, it’s in the second semester for me. But I am looking forward to it (again). Surprisingly now, I really like math too since it comes easily to my understanding.
I would say my strongest attribute is my perseverance. For me, I would never back down from a challenge because I think it is “too hard” or “too intimidating”. In fact, I would argue that a challenge is welcome because it can make you push yourself to improve more and more. And with this mindset, I continue to push on with academic work. I believe that nothing truly is impossible because you really can just keep going at it, even if you fail multiple times.

A really surprising fact that most people don’t know about me is that I love collecting miscellaneous things such as candles, pins, figures, rocks, and mists, etc. I’ve always liked having a vast collection of one item, it’s just a hobby of mine. It really makes me happy to see them all lined up in together after I’ve collected them. I also find that it is very stress-relieving for me to organize them into piles separated by myself.
In my free time, I like to play badminton and video games to relax. After a day at school, I like to go home and play some video games (RPG style) or go out and play badminton. I prefer playing doubles in badminton because it’s much easier to cover only your half of the court rather than the full court when you play singles. But if I don’t like my partner, I would prefer to play alone. I’ve recently been really into storytelling games and rhythm games, and I find them pleasant to play while passing the time.

The perfect best friend to me is someone who is able to relate to my humor but is also someone who is able to comfort and help me. Someone who is inspiring and kind but is also firm and respectable. They should be able to read the room and act accordingly to the social circumstances. They do not have to be smart, but they should be just willing to learn. They should be someone fun to talk to and someone who is aware of their surroundings.
The category I am most interested in right now is inquiry because I already have a question I wanted to research and answer over the summer. Thank you for reading.
