Hi all! My name is Jennah Brar, and I’m a 15-year-old girl who is in grade 10 and enrolled at Dr Charles’s best secondary school. A little bit about me is that I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, up until the age of nine, when I and my family moved to Coquitlam in 2020. At Dr Charles’s best, my favourite subject is science, more specifically, my favourite units are chemistry and biology. This kind of makes sense because for as long as I could remember, I’ve always been interested in animal anatomy and human anatomy, which also ties to the fact that I want to be a vet when I’m older. So it really just makes sense.
In the next few paragraphs, I’ll be talking a little bit more about myself. In advance, thank you for reading!!!

If you didn’t know, I’m Punjabi and most of my family comes from India. My culture has many traditions, family values, and a lot of cultural celebrations. Today, I’ll be sharing one of my favorites. What I’m about to talk about isn’t a tradition it’s more like a habit and part of my routine. Basically on every full moon of the month, me and my family go to the temple and we pray. When we go, we pray in front of our God and we pray for a better life for our families’s health and safety. We make wishes as well as just sitting in silence, listening to prayers. After we go to the dining hall and we eat a nice home-cooked meal from our culture. I love this tradition because it gives me and my family a day to connect with each other and bond, as well as learning more about our culture and staying connected to it.
In my free time, I do many things, but something that I do most is doing cheer. If you didn’t know, I’m a level four cheerleader at Vancouver All-Stars, and I love it. I’m also a flyer. If you didn’t know that that’s the person that gets thrown into the air and does tricks.

Cheer has always been very important to me. My friend Riley introduced it to me when I was in grade 4, and I’ve been doing it ever since. I’ve moved up every single year and treated every single year as a learning year, which only made me better. In my free time at home I like to go on my trampoline and practice tricks or go into my air track and do the same. On the weekends, I go to the cheer gym, and I practice some more. I find that it relaxes me and helps me improve overall. It helps me to be a better teammate, flyer, and athlete in general.

As I mentioned before, I’ve already decided what project I want to do this year, and that is an action project. In this action project, I want to volunteer at animal shelters and help animals find a loving home. Again, as I mentioned before, I wanted to be a vet when I’m older, so this will also help me get volunteer hours and experience what it would be like working with animals. I’m planning on doing this project over the course of both semesters, so it would be a year-long project, and I also might carry it over into the summer so I could get even more experience. But it’s not only about experience for me. It’s about finding the deserving animals there a home that they live in for the rest of their lives. Just the thought of that makes me so happy.

I also have a dog named Morgan, and if she were ever in pain, I would want to be able to help her myself, so everything I’m doing this semester, next semester, and during the summer and learning over the course of this year in science is for her.
Thank you so much everyone who has read this post and I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit about me.
