Blog Post #1

.

Welcome to my first blog post of the semester.

Part 1: My 3 most important values are equality, freedom, and family. My 3 least important values are power, risk, spiritual growth. I definitely agree with these results. Equality is a main value of mine because I believe that every person deserves to be treated with respect and with kindness, regardless of their background or identity. And because I believe that a fair and happy community can only exist if everyone is treated with the same respect and kindness. Freedom is another value of mine because, simply without freedom there is no life to live. Freedom gives people some sort of power to speak their minds, gives people the power to make their own choices, and people can live freely without the fear of being silenced. Family is another important value of mine because I believe that it is important to have a good connection with your loved ones, they keep me away from distractions, and bad things. And knowing that I have a good connection with my family I know that they are always there to support me. Risk is not an important value to me because it is just an unpredictable thing that’s not a goal or that has meaning in it, taking a risk doesn’t actually mean anything on its own. It’s kind of like rolling a dice and hoping for the best. I don’t value the act of taking a chance to me values should have a purpose. Power isn’t important to me, if someone with power doesn’t have empathy or aren’t empathetic that makes them a narcissist, making them take advantage of their power in a selfish way. lastly, spiritual growth is not a very core and important value to me because rather than spending my time on beliefs, I’d rather focus my time on my physical well being, and on the real world where I can actually see a greater purpose.

Part 2: Out of all the 17 sustainable goals the one that aligns with my values most is #16, peace, justice, and strong institutions. I am passionate about #13 climate action because climate change is a real thing that is affecting our world right now. I care about this because we can see the physical damage happening to our planet every day, from wildfires to rising temperatures. instead of just talking about the issue I believe we need to take direct action to protect our environment and to fix what is destroyed. The action I am doing to support and address this goal is a recycling and composting routine in my home. I switch to using reusable water bottles and fabric bags every day, I will also address this issue to my family members so they can also stop using plastic bottles and plastic bags. I am also going to make a habit of turning off lights and unplugging my electronics when I leave a room to save energy.
