Action Blog Post #5 Pt.2

For my action project, I recently conducted another park clean-up, this time at Semiahmoo Park. I executed my project twice last week, spending about an hour each day on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, right after my practice. On the first day, my brother joined me, and on the second day, two of my teammates came along to help

One notable success was getting a couple of my teammates involved in the clean-up. Despite their busy schedules, they made time to support my project, which was a significant achievement. Another success that occurred was when I went out with my brother because we both were able to get a small workout in by jogging. This was a success since we filled up our trash bags quickly and got some exercise. Additionally, borrowing a garbage picker from a friend was a success because it made the process more efficient, as I didn’t have to bend down each time to pick up litter.

A challenge I faced was going out after practice because I was very tired. I overcame this by working quickly and having interesting conversations with my friends. The weather also posed a challenge when it started to rain during the clean-up with my brother. We addressed this by simply wearing jackets. Furthermore, even though there wasn’t a lot of garbage to collect which was a challenge I remembered that this was a positive thing because it shows that the people who walk around Semiahmoo Park are aware that they need to take care of their environment.

Next, I plan to return to Surrey Christian Park for multiple clean-ups after my practices throughout June. Hopefully, I am able to bring out more of my teammates to help me because then we can cover more ground in less time. I plan to stay out for longer than an hour as well.

2.) This photo connects to my project by showing the exact object I used to collect garbage with.
