a. Challenges and how I overcame them
One of the biggest challenges I faced while working on this story was showing Vaeloria’s internal struggles in a way that felt real and engaging, without slowing down the action. I wanted readers to understand her fear, self-doubt, and perfectionism, but I also needed the story to move through her journey across the magical world. To overcome this, I used vivid imagery, like the storm over the grassy field, to represent her thoughts and emotions. I also focused on balancing internal reflection with external action, showing her running through mountains, facing dragons, and meeting Luma. Researching the effects of self-doubt and perfectionism helped me make her reactions and growth feel authentic. In addition, I struggled to keep her internal thoughts consistent, but creating an outline and tracking the storm imagery allowed me to maintain clarity throughout the story.
b. How writing and researching changed my thinking
Writing and researching this story changed the way I think about challenges and personal growth. I realized that often the obstacles we face are not just external, but ones we create ourselves through fear, overthinking, or the pressure to be perfect. Vaeloria’s journey showed me that self-criticism can feel heavier than any external threat, and that learning to recognize and manage it is a form of real strength. It also made me reflect on my own habits—times when I overthink, doubt myself, or let anxiety hold me back—and understand that growth comes from acting despite fear, not waiting for perfection. I now see that challenges are opportunities to learn, but only if we can quiet the “storms” in our own minds.
c. Impact on others locally and/or globally
This story has the potential to inspire others both locally and globally. Locally, classmates and friends can relate to Vaeloria’s feelings of pressure, fear, and self-doubt, and it might encourage them to reflect on their own internal challenges. Globally, readers from different backgrounds can connect with the idea that personal growth comes from facing internal fears as much as external obstacles. By showing Vaeloria overcoming both her self-doubt and external threats, the story communicates a universal message: often, our biggest battles are inside our own minds, and overcoming them can open the way to true achievement and self-confidence. I hope the story encourages readers to approach their own fears with courage and self-compassion.
