Thank you for taking the time to read my first blog post! For my semester 2 project, I have decided to dive into the inquiry question “How does storytelling through movement and performance create a deeper impact than spoken language?”
I have decided to choose this inquiry question because it relates to myself in a very impactful way. I am very passionate about dance, and it has always been apart of my life. With dance, I have been able to grow as a person, and really express myself through movement, in ways that I sometimes can’t with words. This inquiry project will focus on why, and how that is.

There are moments where emotions feel too complex or overwhelming to explain, but when I dance, I can channel those feelings into my movements, and it feels like a release of freedom. I’m able to tell a story that feels authentic to me, and show the work I put in. For example, performing on stage, where I am able to connect with the audience, is my way of telling them how I feel without speaking. This is the reason that makes me curious about why movement can sometimes communicate emotions more effectively than speaking.

With this project, I want to explore the true meaning behind how storytelling through movement and performance can create a deeper emotional and personal impact than spoken language, as well as how this form of expression can benefit verbal speech. Thank you for reading my post!
