The action that I came up with was to create a tool that helps people identify and deal with invasive plants. With support from experts, I hope to code an AI that is able to identify local invasive plant species from photos and provide accurate/simple steps to removing it, based on the information that I researched and put together.
Since last week, I have reached out to the Invasive Species Council of Metro Vancouver (ISCMV) to hear their opinion on the app, and I have successfully created my very first prototype of the Invasive Species app. (1)

While creating the agent, I had trouble adding the image uploading feature, which is an essential part of my app. It is the key to identify the plant and provide the appropriate response. I was able to later figure out the image uploading feature issue by taking my time, trying out all the features available for creating an agent through Copilot. Creating an agent was not difficult as I only needed to create a prompt for the agent to follow and provide three websites that the it would only use to pull information for the user.
Unfortunately, I have not received a response back from the ISCMV, so I have written the steps I want to take next below.
For next week, I really plan to research other environmental apps with similar aims and reach out to more potential users such as gardening centres and other environmental groups to increase my chances of an actual response. I will refine my current agent to give out more concise answers as well as try to share the agent to the potential users. This way, other people and including I will be able to get a real sense of how this app will work out.
Thank you for reading!
