Blog post #5- action project report on picking up garbage

Welcome back! To summarise what we have done so far is we planned to collect our supplies and finalised a date to do our group picking up garbage. we have gone to Lafarge lake and we were surprised to see how clean the place was overall, however there was some occasional garbage on the floor, we found the most near the amphitheater, which makes sense as here the park often host events and celebrations are done around here. We were able to pick up a bag of garbage by wearing gloves and make sure to keep procaution to ensure we were being safe. Athough it may seem small just one bag, we could tell the difference.

One of our biggest successes was the fact that we could visit lots of parks as mentioned that we live around lots of green areas. We were able to go to the closest to us. The weather was also working in our favour since we were lucky enough to have a nice week and the date that we all agreed on was nice and sunny.

The only challenge we encountered was the time management and making time from our busy schedules to visit the parks. However, we were able to contact and reach out to our teacher and inform her of our concern that we won’t be able to head to the park until the day of this blog post being due. Learning how supportive everyone was still surprised us; communication is key.

Next, we are planning to go to more parks and try to find one we expect to have more garbage or that we know has lots of people who attend this park regularly. Maybe even try to visit trails in an attempt to find more garbage to pick up (1). This could even be turned into a small experiment to see where people typically litter.
