My inquiry question: Can teenagers influence younger students to avoid drugs and other harmful behaviour?
This question is an interest for me because I think it is important to show our future generations that they don’t need to seek help from substances or feel the need to use through peer pressure. I believe it is important not to hide substance talk from younger students, but to assure that they have an understanding on the true effects of use and perhaps the alternative habits they could use to help with personal difficulties. There are many ways that teenagers can take initiative to help younger students. Being open about the things to stay away from and expectations is important. Sheltering younger individuals from reality is what creates a gap for harmful behaviour and substance use. As well, treating younger students as equals instead of peers who are simply younger and naive is a place where we they can improve. Treating each other as on the same level can create a deeper sense of comfort and understanding. There are many ways to help younger students, though it is important to be committed and reasonable.
